Lakeside Cottage

This lakefront home is situated alongside tranquil Whisper Lake in the heart of Sapphire Valley. This spacious, 4 bedroom & 4 bathroom home has 2 living areas (upstairs & downstairs) each with a wrap-around deck and lake views from which can be heard the sound of running water. The upstairs has an expansive Great Room that features a gas fireplace and wall of windows overlooking the lake and mountains. The downstairs can function as a second living area and includes a living room with gas fireplace, access to the lower wrap-around deck and a game room with books, family board games, and a foosball table. All four bedrooms are roomy with good views and have access to a full bath. The fully stocked kitchen has a double wall oven. The outside garden has many flowers designed to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Take a stroll down the pathway through the lush foliage where you'll find a private dock and canoe (available for your use). Good fishing for bluegills and bass on this peaceful lake (no motorized vehicles allowed). For a small fee, guests have access to the many Sapphire Valley Resort amenities (golf, tennis, indoor and outdoor pools, mini-golf, pool table, ping-pong, a fitness center and game room) and access to 55+ acre Fairfield Lake (swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and motorized boating or sailing).   Lakeside cottage is a spacious and quiet retreat on Whisper Lake. It is close to golf and the amenities of Sapphire Valley resort. A deck at tree level overlooks the lake. The small dock is fine for launching the canoe, and sunbathing, but it's not very suitable for swimming.

  Our group of 7 were able to spread out in the house as we wanted or come together for dinner in the dining room. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of tools to coo our big Thanksgiving dinner. The double oven is a plus.

  We had a wonderful stay on Whisper Lake. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. The house was lovely. The beds were a little firm but comfortable. The wifi ( for distance learning ) was good. When we had an issue with the stove and TV management was right on task. From the property you can access many nearby trails and waterfalls but short distances on curving winding mountain roads always take a lot longer. Similarly the main grocery store is only 10 miles away but as recommended it is beneficial to stock up before you arrive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  I would highly recommend this property. It was beautiful, the furniture was very comfortable and the views are spectacular. We had 6 adults and a toddler and there was plenty of space for everyone. The separate living spaces on the main floor and basement are perfect if you want to get away from the rest of your group and relax alone.
  As the property manager told me, GPS can get you lost in that area so make sure you get clear directions.
  It's about 20 minutes from Cashiers so make sure you stop at the grocery store on the way in. The roads are very windy and narrow so driving at night can be a little nerve racking until you get familiar with the landscape.

  The house was nicely appointed and the spaces were great for two families with two teens. The view of the lake was great, and the surrounds were peaceful and lovely. Kids had a great time with the canoe and playing in the lake. Some easily improvements are needed: the grill is on its last legs, and while the two tall deck chairs were comfortable; it would be great to have more comfortable outdoor seating for more people. Location is a little winding to get into the property, but the roads are in good condition. Parking is fine for two cars; hard-pressed to have three there.

  This beautiful home was perfect for our group of 7 who were visiting the Cashiers area for a wedding. The house was spotlessly clean decorated beautifully and VERY roomy.   This lovely home is set on a serene and peaceful and beautiful little lake. Photo ops abound! The home itself is large and was perfect for our three families. Each family settled in on one of the three floors so each had their private space, and we would spend most the time gathering in the expansive great room with adjoining kitchen and dining room. We are foodies and prepared wonderful meals in the fully equipped kitchen. Waterfall hikes are nearby, and our little ones loved the swimming pool. You are truly out in nature, but close enough to Cashiers to get to the grocery store and some antiquing. Also near Lake Glenville to rent a pontoon. It's a lovely place for a serene and restful vacation with cool temps...a great place to escape the heat of Texas.

  Great vacation stay for long weekend. The deck overlooking the lake was our go-to hang out spot with awesome view. Everyone took turns taking the canoe out as well. Interior was very well maintained.
  
  Close to Cashiers where we ate at The Orchard, great food but pricey. Wait staff were very attentive. Day trips included short hikes in Gorges State Park and Whitewater Falls.
  
  All four bedrooms were nice and had dedicated bathrooms; however, one BR had a nice tub, no shower. It was not an issue.

  The children enjoyed it immensely, as did the rest of the family. There are some issues that need to be addressed. There is no hot water on the top two floors. There is a "hump" under the dining room carpet, most likely an electrical outlet, that is a tripping hazard. One of the chairs to the small round table broke. It had been previously broken and glued back but broke again. We are all small people. I think the largest is a man who weighs 175. My son-in-law noticed that the outside wall of the house on, I think, the second story where the grill is has been scorched. The furniture in the main room on second story (sofa and chair) either need to be replaced or thoroughly steam cleaned. They appear to be dirty. The house was perfect for our was clean and we had everything that we needed to make our stay comfortable. We were within a few miles of several restaurants that suited everyone's taste and the shopping (for the ladies) was more than adequate (SEVERAL purchases were made!!). Eddy McDonald (Silver Creek Real Estate) is a godsend as he is always available if you have any questions or concerns.   Our 50th wedding celebration with family was made delightful with the house being exactly as stated, along with the other amenities. The only drawback was the winding road (Highway 64) to get to the cottage. The area abounds with wild life, waterfalls, fishing, and various places to collect rocks & minerals, especially a shop in Brevard NC, which my 2 grand children enjoyed. I sincerely recommend this to everyone. There are always a few things which could be corrected, such as replacing a leaking blender, providing adequate trash bags, parking for only 3 automobiles, failure of management to notify us of a "boil order" for the water, which a neighbor conveyed to us.

  We had a Family Vacation here for 10 days in July. The Rental Agent was extremely helpful with any questions since this was our first time staying in the area. The house has 3 floors with plenty of sleeping arrangements for everyone. The house and bathrooms were clean which is very important to us as renters. Kitchen was good with plenty of dishes. Very nice New Coffee Maker, but thePots and Pans were a bit old and rugged. Plenty of towels and the Washer/Dryer were very nice.
  Loved the Lake for swimming and the canoe was fun. We had a wonderful Ten Days there.

Had a small issue with the hot water after the first night, but Eddy at Silver Creek had his guy out first thing the next morning and we had hot water before breakfast. Nice job. Would highly recommend staying, but the only concern might be all the stairs you have to travel getting to the front door.

The view of the lake from the two level porches was great and the view of the surrounding mountain area was beautiful as well. Our party of four couples had a great enjoyable time. It was just the 2 of us but a family of 10-12 could also be comfortable there. My husband got to do a little fishing from the canoe. It was very private and relaxing.
